Velux Loft Conversion
What is a Velux Loft Conversion?
A Velux conversion is a type of loft conversion where the roofline remains unchanged, with Velux windows installed to bring in natural light. We exclusively use official Velux windows, as they are the leading manufacturer and offer their own guarantee on the products.
Benefits of a Velux Conversion
A Velux conversion, or roof light loft conversion, is the most non-intrusive, cost-effective and easiest way to create additional space. Velux conversions work at their best when there is a good amount of height between the loft floor and the existing ridge. In comparison to other conversion types, Velux loft conversions require much less building work and are, therefore, not as disruptive.

Exterior Finish Options
Since the external roofline remains unchanged, there are no additional finishes to consider. The only visible alteration will be the Velux windows, which can be seamlessly integrated by using your existing tiles or slates, making it appear as though the windows have always been part of the roof.
Will you need planning permission?
If your property has permitted development rights, you can build a Velux conversion under a Certificate of Lawfulness. This certificate means that, as long as you build within the council’s guidelines, you do not need to wait for the application to be approved before work commences
If you do not have permitted development rights, you will need to obtain planning permission. With planning permission, you cannot start work until it has been granted. Once a planning application is validated with the council, it should issue a decision after eight weeks.
Here at The Loft Room, we will ascertain exactly which permission is needed and will submit the relevant applications on your behalf to obtain the correct approval.
